Forest Foods

Forest Foods supplier of the month. Forest Foods are a vegetarian bakery established in 1994 supplying excellent pasties and vegetarian food. Sarah Bird (MD) explains:

When we started back in 1994, I had no idea Forest Foods would be what it is today. We have expanded steadily year by year and still have the same customers we began with 14 years ago. Initially we supplied a couple of local health food shops but now our products are distributed as far a field as Scotland and Ireland.

We are committed to smaller independent retailers and would never consider supplying big supermarkets. Our customers are really what it is all about for us and we pride ourselves on the relationships we have formed with them. Here is what some of them have to say:

An important factor for us when we are creating new things to eat is that they have wide appeal; our aim is to make "vegetarian food for everyone" and judging from the feedback we receive from customers our products do appeal to a wide range of people.Popular amongst office workers, students, lecturer we have even been told that our Burrito Grande at 300g is a big hit with truckers!

We create products with an International flavour, from the Moroccan Bean Wrap to the Mediterranean Calzone, all have been tried and tested again and again before we come up with the final creation. We like to involve our customers at this stage and they are often our very willing guinea pigs!

We are committed to Vegetarianism and all our products have Vegetarian Society approval; we do not use any genetically modified foods or hydrogenated fats. All the dough and pastry we make on site is made using organic ingredients.

Many of our products are free from any artificial ingredients; these include our pasties, tartlets and our entire range of calzones

We really believe that as well as being a gourmet delight Forest Foods offers a more ethical option.

Our business is built around good customer service and consistently high quality products; key to both of these is our team of staff. In this industry staff turnover can be high but we have had the same team for over 5 years (where else would they get free burritos!). It is their knowledge and experience that makes Forest Foods what it is today

We hope to keep on providing the same level of products and service for many years to come and we could not do this without the continuing loyalty of our customers.
